Bio: Howdy! My name is Rishi Sankar, and I'm a sophomore biomedical sciences major from Austin, TX. Upon graduating, I plan to attend medical school while pursuing research!

I am currently researching the effects of polyethylene microplastics (PE-MPs) on breast tumorigenesis, as well as more focused research under PhD candidate Stephen Akanbi, involving the relationship between Circadian Rhythm Disruption (CRD) and breast cancer. Studies over the past couple of years have shown a link between CRD and a high-risk for breast cancer, making our research relevant in developing novel therapies.

Currently, I am interested in pursuing a specialty in either oncology or cardiology after medical school. I also plan on working as an EMT in Austin and potentially for TAMU EMS. Long- term, after practicing medicine, I'd also like to pick up a health sciences high school teaching job for at least a couple of years, since that was where my inspiration for pursuing medicine originated!
