Bio: Mattie Claire Echols is a Class of 2029 Business Honors student pursuing a Pre-Medicine minor and Business Technology certificate. She plans to attend medical school and become a physician, combining her interests in business strategy and compassionate patient care to help shape a healthcare system that is both efficient and human-centered.

Mattie Claire is passionate about learning across disciplines and brings a diverse perspective to the challenges she encounters. She currently conducts undergraduate research in Dr. Benjamin Neuman's lab, where she studies previously unknown picornaviruses that affect cnidaria, a phylum of aquatic invertebrates. Through her research experiences, she has developed an appreciation for the skills, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities gained through undergraduate research.

As an Undergraduate Research Ambassador, Mattie Claire hopes to encourage students from all academic backgrounds to explore research opportunities and discover how research can support their personal, academic, and professional growth.

I believe every student can benefit from the skills, curiosity, and confidence gained through undergraduate research, and I would love to help you get started. Email me at mattieclaire@tamu.edu .
