Bio: Howdy! My name is Akash Agarwal and I am a freshman studying molecular and cellular neuroscience. I am currently on the pre-med track and hope to one day go to medical school to become a psychiatrist.  I am also a member of TAMU Doctors Without Borders, which aims to spread awareness about healthcare crises worldwide. We raise money, do blood drives, and create maps for healthcare providers in areas with limited geographical coverage.

I also work in the Sarkar Lab with the biology department, where we investigate the effects that polyethylene microplastics have on breast cancer progression. It has been an incredibly rewarding year working in the lab, and I am eager to raise awareness about the work we do to other undergraduate researchers in the program, as well as anybody interested in research.

With the Undergraduate Research Program, I hope to make research accessible for everyone, showing people that participating in undergraduate research is not as daunting as it may seem.
