Be sure to notify your students that they will get a parking ticket on campus the first day of classes if they do not have a parking permit. Many students arrive under the impression that they will not get a ticket during the first days of class while waiting in line at Transportation Services to buy their permit. Be sure to notify your students to either pay to park in a parking garage if they do not yet have a permit or to purchase their permit on-line prior to arrival. If they are not able to purchase their permit in advance allowing time for the permit to arrive to their home address, students may still purchase it on-line and have it sent to their departmental address at Texas A&M or pick it up from Transportation Services. In these cases, students must print their confirmation sheet and display it on their dash board to prevent getting a ticket until their permit arrives to the department or until they have picked the permit up from Transportation Services. This sheet is valid during the first week of classes.
Permits may be purchased on-line at http://transport.tamu.edu/.
Permits are typically purchased to be valid for one year; however permits purchased for a portion of the year are prorated. Parking permits for non-gated unnumbered parking lots valid from May through August 2008 cost approximately $76.
