Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, invites applications to our highly successful summer research program, RISE (Research In Science and Engineering) at Rutgers/UMDNJ, http://rise.rutgers.edu. RISE is co-sponsored by our sister institution, The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory is hosting the
2007 DOE Day of Science at the Knoxville (Tennessee) Convention Center
on October 29. Additional program information and the online
registration may be found at the following link.
Please note that this year there is no limit on the number of students
and that US citizenship is not required.
We are interested in recruiting Engineering or Science undergraduates
(they may be in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer
science, mathematics, physics, biology and other related fields) for
this REU program. They must be in good academic standing and US citizens
(states & territories) or permanent residents. The program is very
interested in attracting women, minorities and the disabled to
participate in the program. Students that will be chosen for the program
will have their travel and stay paid. Furthermore, each of them will
receive a stipend of $5,000 (for the 10 week summer experience).
The program starts in mid-May and lasts for 10 weeks. There is an
application deadline of this program (March 30th, 2007), so if you are
interested in this opportunity we encourage you to go to our site and
apply early:
The WTS International is an organization of transportation professionals with more than 3,000 members. The organization provides a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and experiences; encourages the professional development of its members; and promotes industry recognition of women in the field of transportation. Please see flyer for application, website and contact information information.
Community of Science, Inc. (COS) brings together the world's most prominent scientists and researchers at more than 1,600 universities, corporations and government agencies worldwide.
The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), located just outside Vienna, Austria, each year sponsors a fellowship program for graduate students who are studying in fields relevant to IIASA's work on global change issues. About 50-60 graduate students from around the world spend the summer working closely with IIASA senior researchers, on projects relevant to each student's thesis topic. They end the summer with an international network of colleagues interested in various aspects of global change issues, and often have produced a paper that can be published. The application deadline for the 2007 YSSP Program is January 15, 2007.
May 29th - August 3rd 2007
Engage in revolutionary research at Duke University through
the 10-week Summer Fellowship Program, Explorations in the
Genome Sciences, within the interdisciplinary Institute for
Genome Sciences & Policy. Gain an appreciation of major
questions in genome sciences, ethics and policy through
mentored research projects, lectures, discussions and a
summer genome retreat.
Areas of research include: computational, evolutionary,
medical, population, structural and/or functional genomics.
Application and Eligibility
The Summer Fellowships in Genome Sciences and Policy are
open to current Freshman and Sophomore students from 4-year
colleges and universities having successfully completed (or
currently enrolled in) at least one biological sciences
course. This program is supported primarily through an REU
grant from the National Science Foundation which
requires that student participants be citizens or permanent
residents of the United States. We welcome applications
from all students and encourage women and individuals from
minority groups to apply. Students will be selected based
on their academic record, statement of interest and letter
of recommendation from a faculty member of their home
academic institution.
Stipend and Housing
Student participants will be housed in Duke University
residence facilities, most likely the Central Campus
Apartments, for the duration of the program. In addition
to housing, students will receive a stipend of $4,000.

Students will work with faculty in the TCU Department of Physics and Astronomy on research in the fields of Atomic & Molecular Physics, Observational Astronomy, Laboratory Astrophysics, Theoretical Modeling and Simulation or Material Science. Collaborate on a research project alongside faculty and graduate students. Learn about working in the aerospace industry through field trips. Develop skills in giving a research presentation. Participate in a mini-workshop on research ethics. Receive a $4000 stipend, free dorm housing, travel support to/from TCU and home, and paid travel expenses to a scientific conference to present the results of their research. More information and application forms are available at the web site:
The University College of Dublin is offering an undergraduate research opportunity this summer in Dublin, Ireland.
A weekly stipend will be paid to each student and campus housing will be provided. The deadline for application is March 15th, 2007. See attached flyer for more information.
During Summer 2008, RISE undergrads have the opportunity to work
on cutting edge research projects at top research institutions (e.g.
Max-Planck-Institutes) and universities in Germany. Students are paired
with German PhD students in a unique mentoring partnership to ensure
immediate integration into hands-on lab work and to provide a built-in
social network. DAAD provides students a scholarship to cover living
expenses, a five-day German rail pass, and an invitation to a three-day
meeting in Heidelberg. RISE interns are not only exposed to advanced
research but have the rare opportunity to learn about Germany from the
inside as they make new friends, establish professional contacts, and
spend weekends exploring the heart of Europe. Online registration and
the internship database for RISE both open on December 6, 2007.
For more information on RISE please visit our web-site or email rise@daad.de .
The University of South Alabama will host an NSF-REU site for undergraduate students who want to participate in a full-time research experience during the summer, under the direction of one of our faculty members. All the projects involve different aspects of "Structure and Function of Proteins."
The River Basins Research Initiative (RBRI) is recruiting students to participate in our NSF-REU program. RBRI is an interdisciplinary research program focused on the impact of urbanization on watershed processes in the piedmont region of South Carolina.
The Texas A&M University Public Policy Internship Program (P.P.I.P.) is currently accepting applications for Fall 2008 internships in Washington, D.C. Interns work a full semester in the nation's Capitol and learn valuable skills that can be used in any future career. The opportunities gained while working in Washington, D.C. will benefit a wide variety of students who have multiple interests ranging from medical or law school to pure research.
The University of Florida invites students to participate in its NSF-funded International Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site Program at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana from May through July 2008.
